Poem #3 - Already Beautiful by Dana Fridman

"Maybe if you change this," you say,
"Maybe if you change that."
Well guess what, I'm already beautiful.

I don't need to 'fix' my nose
or wear tiny excuses of clothes;
I don't need to starve myself to death
and I don't need to hurt my health.

I don't need any of this,
because I'm already beautiful.

What right do you have
to try and mold me into something
I don't want to be?
Is it too hard, to love me for me?

You are searching for outer perfection;
trying to see the personality
is out of the question.
In the end you'll find an empty shell.

And guess what, I am okay alone
Right now I'm looking in the mirror
and all the questions are gone.
I don't need refinement-

Because I am already beautiful.
